Controversial Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has revealed he is ready to be a part of Ghana Music Awards. He disclosed this in an interview with George Quaye on The Pundits on GhOneTV, He also revealed he is ready to resolve his issues with Charter House, organizer of the awards scheme.
Some three years ago, Shatta decided to boycott the show and warned the organizers against nominating him in any category. In 2014, Charter house sued Shatta wale for 10 million Ghana cedis on defamation charges. The event organisers also followed with a ban for a good number of years.
The self acclaimed dance hall king swallowed his pride and called on Charter house to withdraw their lawsuit and settle the issue peacefully with him. Shatta wale’s recent U-turn have left many pundits wondering why he could take such a decision after he always claims he doesn’t an award. Could it be the BET nomination which has been eluding him each year even tho he keeps churning out hit tunes?
Shatta Wale’s fallout with Charter House started when he lost out on a dancehall category award to Kaakie in 2013. He insulted both the company and Kaakie, later recording a song in which he claimed he didn’t need any award.
He also recorded videos in which he called CharterHouse and its CEO names, leading to the former being sued.
Months down the line, he apologized to Charter House, its CEO and Samini after the birth of his son asking they start their relationships altogether and on a ‘fresh’ page. After his public outburst, his music career just took a different turn with Shatta become the most sought after artiste in the country. He went ahead to win the Artiste of the year in 2014 and has seen been listed among the top artiste in Ghana releasing hit after hit.
