Prince Nyamekye, an audit associate with KPMG, has graduated from the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) as the Overall Best Candidate in the May, 2017 Final Level CA Professional Examinations. The ICAG held its 29th Graduation & Admission Ceremony at the Accra International Conference Centre on the October 28, 2017 to graduate 248 Chartered Accountants who passed the Final Level exams in May 2017 and to formally admit 286 Chartered Accountants into Membership of the Institute. A total of 8 also received certificates for successfully completing the Accounting Technician Scheme West Africa (ATSWA) programme.
Prince qualified as a chartered accountant in two sittings, passing all the papers at first attempt. He sat for the Level Two exams in November 2016 and awarded the Overall Best Candidate for Corporate Strategy, Ethics & Governance.
Not only was he awarded the Overall Best Candidate in the Final Level Exams, but also received awards for emerging the Overall Best Candidate for both Corporate Reporting and Taxation & Fiscal Policy. For this achievement, he was also awarded as Overall Best Candidate (First Attempt) – CA Final Level Exams in addition to the other awards received. He received 4 out of a total of 6 awards at the CA Final Level Exams.
Prince, who graduated as the Best Graduating Accounting Student in 2016 and received numerous awards from the University of Cape Coast, has indeed achieved a feat worthy of emulation. This is an inspiration to those who would want to follow his path.
He was clearly elated when we got in touch with him. He expressed his gratitude to God and to all those who supported him in making this achievement possible. “I have always loved accounting since Senior High School,” he said, “and while at the university, it had always been my dream to pursue the Institute’s exams.”
