8 most reported crimes in Ghana

In 2009, A Crime  Survey was carried out in four Metropolitan Assemblies  in Ghana.

These assemblies were Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA), Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and Tamale Metropolitan Assembly (TMA).

According to the data released by the Ghana statistical service, here are the percentage of victims who reported crimes to the police or other authorities. From the survey it seems Ghanaians really cared about their automobiles than anything else. Car theft topped the list of most reported cases with s£xual offence finding itself at the bottom of the top 8.

7. Burglary with entry – 13.8%

6. Robbery – 15.4%

5. Assault/threat – 17. 9%



4. Car vandalism – 25%



3. Theft of motorcycle – 44.4%
